Bronze for Breen

Olivia Breen won her second medal of the Commonwealth Games 2018 as she took home Bronze in the T38 100m. Breen made a good start to the race as the first three got clear from the rest of the field quickly.

Breen ran 13.35 finishing behind England's Sophie Hahn and Australia's Rhiannon Clarke,  to make her the first athlete to win two medals in the track and field competitions after winning Gold in the T38 Long Jump on Sunday.

Breen said “I can’t actually believe it, it still hasn’t sunk in about the Gold Medal. I’m over the moon, I knew I was in good shape for the games, I am so happy I showed it, I done Wales proud and my family and friends.”

“It’s my first race in the 100m as its April. I just ran, I know it was quick so that’s what I am happy with. I got a good start and happy with it. I am just happy I got a bronze medal.”

The Bronze medal winner said “I was really hoping for 2 medals and it happened. All the hard work paid off, I am just looking forward to having ten days off training and celebrating.”

James Ledger made his Commonwealth Games debut, finishing third in the first heat of the Men’s T12 100m. James’s time of 11.77 was a season's best but not enough to progress to the final.
